Our Approach

Why Owners Bring Their Pieces to Us

Nothing Started Without Discussion

Before any work is undertaken, we go through the findings with you and agree on a path forward. You choose what happens to your piece — there is no assumption made on your behalf.

Respect for Original Character

With antique and vintage pieces, we lean toward preserving what is already there rather than replacing it. The history of a timepiece is part of its value.

Clear Written Summaries

Every assessment comes with a written record of condition and recommended work. Plain language, not technical jargon — something you can keep for your own records.

Considered Pace of Work

Horological work takes time to do properly. We give each commission the hours it needs, and we communicate progress with you at each stage, so you are never left wondering.

Established Kuala Lumpur Workshop

Our workshop on Jalan Tun Razak has served Kuala Lumpur's timepiece owners for many years. You are welcome to visit and see where work is carried out.

Proper Horological Tools

We work with the right instruments for the task — including equipment suited to fine antique movements that would be damaged by careless handling or inappropriate tools.

Questions & Answers

Things People Often Ask

How do I bring a piece in for assessment?
The simplest approach is to telephone or email us beforehand so we can expect you and give you our full attention when you arrive. Walk-ins are welcomed, though an appointment ensures we are properly prepared. Our workshop is at 56 Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.
What happens during a movement assessment?
We examine the movement carefully under magnification, noting wear, damage, and anything that would benefit from attention. We also look at the case and any external components. Within one to two weeks, we provide a written summary with a considered range of options. There is no pressure to proceed with further work.
How long does a full service take?
Wall and mantel clock services typically take between four and eight weeks, depending on the condition of the piece and the parts required. Pocket watch restoration varies by project complexity. We will give you a realistic timeframe at the outset, and keep you informed of any change.
Will you try to preserve original parts where possible?
Yes. Particularly with antique pieces, we prefer to work with what is already there rather than replacing components unnecessarily. If replacement is the more sensible course, we discuss it with you first and explain why, so the decision remains yours.
What does the assessment fee cover?
The RM 620 assessment fee covers a thorough diagnostic examination of the movement and case, a written condition report, and a structured list of the work that may be required with indicative costs. If you decide to proceed with a full service, the assessment fee is applied toward that work.
Do you handle shipping for out-of-city clients?
We are able to advise on appropriate packaging and carriers for transporting timepieces safely. However, we ask clients to manage the shipping arrangements themselves, as we are not in a position to take on responsibility for transit. Please speak with us before sending anything, so we can ensure the piece is properly prepared.
